ٱلْحَمْدُ All praises al-ḥamdu (be) to Allah lillahi the One to Whom belongs alladhī the One to Whom belongs lahu whatever mā (is) in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and whatever wamā (is) in fī the earth l-arḍi and for Him walahu (are) all praises l-ḥamdu in fī the Hereafter l-ākhirati And He wahuwa (is) the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu the All-Aware l-khabīru
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and to Him belongs [all] praise in the Hereafter. And He is the Wise, the Aware.
يَعْلَمُ He knows yaʿlamu what mā penetrates yaliju in fī the earth l-arḍi and what wamā comes out yakhruju from it min'hā and what wamā descends yanzilu from mina the heaven l-samāi and what wamā ascends yaʿruju therein fīhā And He wahuwa (is) the Most Merciful l-raḥīmu the Oft-Forgiving l-ghafūru
He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein. And He is the Merciful, the Forgiving.
وَقَالَ But say waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū Not lā will come to us tatīnā the Hour l-sāʿatu Say qul Nay balā by my Lord warabbī surely it will come to you latatiyannakum (He is the) Knower ʿālimi (of) the unseen l-ghaybi Not lā escapes yaʿzubu from Him ʿanhu (the) weight mith'qālu (of) an atom dharratin in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and not walā in fī the earth l-arḍi and not walā smaller aṣgharu than min that dhālika and not walā greater akbaru but illā (is) in fī a Record kitābin Clear mubīnin
But those who disbelieve say, "The Hour will not come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. [Allāh is] the Knower of the unseen." Not absent from Him is an atom's weight1 within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear register -
لِّيَجْزِىَ That He may reward liyajziya those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti Those ulāika for them lahum (will be) forgiveness maghfiratun and a provision wariz'qun noble karīmun
That He may reward those who believe and do righteous deeds. Those will have forgiveness and noble provision.
وَٱلَّذِينَ But those who wa-alladhīna strive saʿaw against fī Our Verses āyātinā (to) cause failure muʿājizīna those ulāika for them lahum (is) a punishment ʿadhābun of min foul nature rij'zin painful alīmun
But those who strive against Our verses [seeking] to cause failure1 - for them will be a painful punishment of foul nature.
وَيَرَى And see wayarā those who alladhīna have been given ūtū the knowledge l-ʿil'ma (that) what alladhī is revealed unzila to you ilayka from min your Lord rabbika [it] huwa (is) the Truth l-ḥaqa and it guides wayahdī to ilā (the) Path ṣirāṭi (of) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzi the Praiseworthy l-ḥamīdi
And those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and it guides to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.
وَقَالَ But say waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū Shall hal we direct you nadullukum to ʿalā a man rajulin who informs you yunabbi-ukum when idhā you have disintegrated muzziq'tum (in) total kulla disintegration mumazzaqin indeed you innakum surely (will be) in lafī a creation khalqin new jadīdin
But those who disbelieve say, "Shall we direct you to a man who will inform you [that] when you have disintegrated in complete disintegration, you will [then] be [recreated] in a new creation?
أَفْتَرَىٰ Has he invented aftarā about ʿalā Allah l-lahi a lie kadhiban or am in him bihi (is) madness jinnatun Nay bali those who alladhīna (do) not lā believe yu'minūna in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati (will be) in fī the punishment l-ʿadhābi and error wal-ḍalāli far l-baʿīdi
Has he invented about Allāh a lie or is there in him madness?" Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter will be in the punishment and [are in] extreme error.
أَفَلَمْ Then, do not afalam they see yaraw towards ilā what mā (is) before them bayna (is) before them aydīhim and what wamā (is) behind them khalfahum of mina the heaven l-samāi and the earth wal-arḍi If in We will nasha We (could) cause to swallow them nakhsif We (could) cause to swallow them bihimu the earth l-arḍa or aw cause to fall nus'qiṭ upon them ʿalayhim fragments kisafan from mina the sky l-samāi Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely, is a Sign laāyatan for every likulli slave ʿabdin who turns (to Allah) munībin
Then, do they not look at what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and earth? If We should will, We could cause the earth to swallow them or [could] let fall upon them fragments from the sky. Indeed in that is a sign for every servant turning back [to Allāh].
۞ وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad We gave ātaynā Dawood dāwūda from Us minnā Bounty faḍlan O mountains yājibālu Repeat praises awwibī with him maʿahu and the birds wal-ṭayra And We made pliable wa-alannā for him lahu [the] iron l-ḥadīda
And We certainly gave David from Us bounty. [We said], "O mountains, repeat [Our] praises with him, and the birds [as well]." And We made pliable for him iron,
أَنِ That ani make iʿ'mal full coats of mail sābighātin and measure precisely waqaddir [of] fī the links (of armor) l-sardi and work wa-iʿ'malū righteousness ṣāliḥan Indeed, I Am innī of what bimā you do taʿmalūna All-Seer baṣīrun
[Commanding him], "Make full coats of mail and calculate [precisely] the links, and work [all of you] righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Seeing."
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ And to Sulaiman walisulaymāna the wind l-rīḥa its morning course ghuduwwuhā (was) a month shahrun and its afternoon course warawāḥuhā (was) a month shahrun and We caused to flow wa-asalnā for him lahu a spring ʿayna (of) molten copper l-qiṭ'ri And [of] wamina the jinn l-jini who man worked yaʿmalu before him bayna before him yadayhi by the permission bi-idh'ni (of) his Lord rabbihi And whoever waman deviated yazigh among them min'hum from ʿan Our Command amrinā We will make him taste nudhiq'hu of min (the) punishment ʿadhābi (of) the Blaze l-saʿīri
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind - its morning [journey was that of] a month - and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command - We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze.
يَعْمَلُونَ They worked yaʿmalūna for him lahu what mā he willed yashāu of min elevated chambers maḥārība and statues watamāthīla and bowls wajifānin like reservoirs kal-jawābi and cooking-pots waqudūrin fixed rāsiyātin Work iʿ'malū O family āla (of) Dawood dāwūda (in) gratitude shuk'ran But few waqalīlun of min My slaves ʿibādiya (are) grateful l-shakūru
They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers,1 statues,2 bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. [We said], "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful.
فَلَمَّا Then when falammā We decreed qaḍaynā for him ʿalayhi the death l-mawta not mā indicated to them dallahum [on] ʿalā his death mawtihi except illā a creature dābbatu (of) the earth l-arḍi eating takulu his staff minsa-atahu But when falammā he fell down kharra became clear tabayyanati (to) the jinn l-jinu that an if law they had kānū known yaʿlamūna the unseen l-ghayba not mā they (would have) remained labithū in fī the punishment l-ʿadhābi humiliating l-muhīni
And when We decreed for him [i.e., Solomon] death, nothing indicated to them [i.e., the jinn] his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff.1 But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment.2
لَقَدْ Certainly laqad (there) was kāna for Saba lisaba-in in fī their dwelling place maskanihim a sign: āyatun Two gardens jannatāni on ʿan (the) right yamīnin and (on the) left washimālin Eat kulū from min (the) provision riz'qi (of) your Lord rabbikum and be grateful wa-ush'kurū to Him lahu A land baldatun good ṭayyibatun and a Lord warabbun Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
There was for [the tribe of] Saba’ in their dwelling place a sign: two [fields of] gardens on the right and on the left. [They were told], "Eat from the provisions of your Lord and be grateful to Him. A good land [have you], and a forgiving Lord."
فَأَعْرَضُوا۟ But they turned away fa-aʿraḍū so We sent fa-arsalnā upon them ʿalayhim (the) flood sayla (of) the dam l-ʿarimi and We changed for them wabaddalnāhum their two gardens bijannatayhim (with) two gardens jannatayni producing fruit dhawātay producing fruit ukulin bitter khamṭin and tamarisks wa-athlin and (some)thing washayin of min lote trees sid'rin few qalīlin
But they turned away [refusing], so We sent upon them the flood of the dam,1 and We replaced their two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something of sparse lote trees.
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika We recompensed them jazaynāhum because bimā they disbelieved kafarū And not wahal We recompense nujāzī except illā the ungrateful l-kafūra
[By] that We repaid them because they disbelieved. And do We [thus] repay except the ungrateful?
وَجَعَلْنَا And We made wajaʿalnā between them baynahum and between wabayna the towns l-qurā which allatī We had blessed bāraknā in it fīhā towns quran visible ẓāhiratan And We determined waqaddarnā between them fīhā the journey l-sayra Travel sīrū between them fīhā (by) night layāliya and (by) day wa-ayyāman safely āminīna
And We placed between them and the cities which We had blessed1 [many] visible cities. And We determined between them the [distances of] journey,2 [saying], "Travel between them by night or by day in safety."
فَقَالُوا۟ But they said faqālū Our Lord rabbanā lengthen (the distance) bāʿid between bayna our journeys asfārinā And they wronged waẓalamū themselves anfusahum so We made them fajaʿalnāhum narrations aḥādītha and We dispersed them wamazzaqnāhum (in) a total kulla dispersion mumazzaqin Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely (are) Signs laāyātin for everyone likulli patient ṣabbārin (and) grateful shakūrin
But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations1 and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad found true ṣaddaqa about them ʿalayhim Iblis ib'līsu his assumption ẓannahu so they followed him fa-ittabaʿūhu except illā a group farīqan of mina the believers l-mu'minīna
And Iblees had already confirmed through them1 his assumption,2 so they followed him, except for a party of believers.
وَمَا And not wamā was kāna for him lahu over them ʿalayhim any min authority sul'ṭānin except illā that We (might) make evident linaʿlama who man believes yu'minu in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati from (one) who mimman [he] huwa about it min'hā (is) in fī doubt shakkin And your Lord warabbuka over ʿalā all kulli things shayin (is) a Guardian ḥafīẓun
And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt. And your Lord, over all things, is Guardian.1
قُلِ Say quli Call upon id'ʿū those whom alladhīna you claim zaʿamtum besides min besides dūni Allah l-lahi Not lā they possess yamlikūna (the) weight mith'qāla (of) an atom dharratin in fī the heavens l-samāwāti and not walā in fī the earth l-arḍi and not wamā for them lahum in both of them fīhimā any min partnership shir'kin and not wamā for Him lahu from them min'hum any min supporter ẓahīrin
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Invoke those you claim [as deities] besides Allāh." They do not possess an atom's weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them any assistant.
وَلَا And not walā benefits tanfaʿu the intercession l-shafāʿatu with Him ʿindahu except illā for (one) whom liman He permits adhina for him lahu Until ḥattā when idhā fear is removed fuzziʿa on ʿan their hearts qulūbihim they will say qālū What is that mādhā your Lord has said qāla your Lord has said rabbukum They will say qālū The truth l-ḥaqa And He wahuwa (is) the Most High l-ʿaliyu the Most Great l-kabīru
And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts,1 they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand.
۞ قُلْ Say qul Who man provides (for) you yarzuqukum from mina the heavens l-samāwāti and the earth wal-arḍi Say quli Allah l-lahu And indeed, we wa-innā or aw you iyyākum (are) surely upon laʿalā guidance hudan or aw in fī error ḍalālin clear mubīnin
Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allāh. And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error."
قُل Say qul Not lā you will be asked tus'alūna about what ʿammā sins we committed ajramnā and not walā we will be asked nus'alu about what ʿammā you do taʿmalūna
Say, "You will not be asked about what we committed, and we will not be asked about what you do."
قُلْ Say qul Will gather yajmaʿu us together baynanā our Lord rabbunā then thumma He will judge yaftaḥu between us baynanā in truth bil-ḥaqi And He wahuwa (is) the Judge l-fatāḥu the All-Knowing l-ʿalīmu
Say, "Our Lord will bring us together; then He will judge between us in truth. And He is the Knowing Judge."1
قُلْ Say qul Show me arūniya those whom alladhīna you have joined alḥaqtum with Him bihi (as) partners shurakāa By no means kallā Nay bal He huwa (is) Allah l-lahu the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
Say, "Show me those whom you have attached to Him as partners. No! Rather, He [alone] is Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
وَمَآ And not wamā We have sent you arsalnāka except illā comprehensively kāffatan to mankind lilnnāsi (as) a giver of glad tidings bashīran and (as) a warner wanadhīran But walākinna most akthara [the] people l-nāsi (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
And We have not sent you except comprehensively1 to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. But most of the people do not know.
وَيَقُولُونَ And they say wayaqūlūna When matā (is) this hādhā promise l-waʿdu if in you are kuntum truthful ṣādiqīna
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
قُل Say qul For you lakum (is the) appointment mīʿādu (of) a Day yawmin not lā you can postpone tastakhirūna [of] it ʿanhu (for) an hour sāʿatan and not walā (can) you precede (it) tastaqdimūna
Say, "For you is the appointment of a Day [when] you will not remain thereafter an hour, nor will you precede [it]."
وَقَالَ And say waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieve kafarū Never will lan we believe nu'mina in this bihādhā Quran l-qur'āni and not walā in (that) which bi-alladhī (was) before it bayna (was) before it yadayhi But if walaw you (could) see tarā when idhi the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna will be made to stand mawqūfūna before ʿinda their Lord rabbihim will throw back yarjiʿu some of them baʿḍuhum to ilā others baʿḍin the word l-qawla Will say yaqūlu those who alladhīna were oppressed us'tuḍ'ʿifū to those who lilladhīna were arrogant is'takbarū If not lawlā (for) you antum certainly we (would) have been lakunnā believers mu'minīna
And those who disbelieve say, "We will never believe in this Qur’ān nor in that before it." But if you could see when the wrongdoers are made to stand before their Lord, refuting each others' words...1 Those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, "If not for you, we would have been believers."
قَالَ Will say qāla those who alladhīna were arrogant is'takbarū to those lilladhīna who were oppressed us'tuḍ'ʿifū Did we anaḥnu avert you ṣadadnākum from ʿani the guidance l-hudā after baʿda when idh it had come to you jāakum Nay bal you were kuntum criminals muj'rimīna
Those who were arrogant will say to those who were oppressed, "Did we avert you from guidance after it had come to you? Rather, you were criminals."
وَقَالَ And will say waqāla those who alladhīna were oppressed us'tuḍ'ʿifū to those who lilladhīna were arrogant is'takbarū Nay bal (it was) a plot makru (by) night al-layli and (by) day wal-nahāri when idh you were ordering us tamurūnanā that an we disbelieve nakfura in Allah bil-lahi and we set up wanajʿala for Him lahu equals andādan But they will conceal wa-asarrū the regret l-nadāmata when lammā they see ra-awū the punishment l-ʿadhāba And We will put wajaʿalnā shackles l-aghlāla on fī (the) necks aʿnāqi (of) those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū Will hal they be recompensed yuj'zawna except illā (for) what mā they used to kānū do yaʿmalūna
Those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, "Rather, [it was your] conspiracy of night and day when you were ordering us to disbelieve in Allāh and attribute to Him equals." But they will [all] confide regret when they see the punishment; and We will put shackles on the necks of those who disbelieved. Will they be recompensed except for what they used to do?
وَمَآ And not wamā We sent arsalnā to fī a town qaryatin any min warner nadhīrin but illā said qāla its wealthy ones mut'rafūhā Indeed we innā in what bimā you have been sent ur'sil'tum with bihi (are) disbelievers kāfirūna
And We did not send into a city any warner except that its affluent said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
وَقَالُوا۟ And they say waqālū We naḥnu (have) more aktharu wealth amwālan and children wa-awlādan and not wamā we naḥnu will be punished bimuʿadhabīna
And they1 said, "We are more [than the believers] in wealth and children, and we are not to be punished."
قُلْ Say qul Indeed inna my Lord rabbī extends yabsuṭu the provision l-riz'qa for whom liman He wills yashāu and restricts wayaqdiru but walākinna most akthara [the] people l-nāsi (do) not lā know yaʿlamūna
Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it], but most of the people do not know."
وَمَآ And not wamā your wealth amwālukum and not walā your children awlādukum [that] bi-allatī will bring you close tuqarribukum to Us ʿindanā (in) position zul'fā but illā whoever man believes āmana and does waʿamila righteousness ṣāliḥan then those fa-ulāika for them lahum (will be) reward jazāu two-fold l-ḍiʿ'fi for what bimā they did ʿamilū and they wahum (will be) in fī the high dwellings l-ghurufāti secure āminūna
And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, but it is [by being] one who has believed and done righteousness. For them there will be the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the upper chambers [of Paradise], safe [and secure].
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna strive yasʿawna against fī Our Verses āyātinā (to) cause failure muʿājizīna those ulāika into fī the punishment l-ʿadhābi (will be) brought muḥ'ḍarūna
And the ones who strive against Our verses to cause [them] failure1 - those will be brought into the punishment [to remain].
قُلْ Say qul Indeed inna my Lord rabbī extends yabsuṭu the provision l-riz'qa for whom liman He wills yashāu of min His slaves ʿibādihi and restricts wayaqdiru for him lahu But what wamā you spend anfaqtum of min anything shayin then He fahuwa will compensate it yukh'lifuhu and He wahuwa (is the) Best khayru (of) the Providers l-rāziqīna
Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma He will gather them yaḥshuruhum all jamīʿan then thumma He will say yaqūlu to the Angels lil'malāikati Were these you ahāulāi Were these you iyyākum they were kānū worshipping yaʿbudūna
And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, "Did these [people] used to worship you?"
قَالُوا۟ They will say qālū Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka You anta (are) our Protector waliyyunā not them min not them dūnihim Nay bal they used kānū (to) worship yaʿbudūna the jinn l-jina most of them aktharuhum in them bihim (were) believers mu'minūna
They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allāh], are our benefactor excluding [i.e., not] them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."
فَٱلْيَوْمَ But today fal-yawma not lā possess power yamliku some of you baʿḍukum on others libaʿḍin to benefit nafʿan and not walā to harm ḍarran and We will say wanaqūlu to those lilladhīna who wronged ẓalamū Taste dhūqū (the) punishment ʿadhāba (of) the Fire l-nāri which allatī you used kuntum to [it] bihā deny tukadhibūna
But today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] you do not hold for one another [the power of] benefit or harm, and We will say to those who wronged, "Taste the punishment of the Fire, which you used to deny."
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā are recited tut'lā to them ʿalayhim Our Verses āyātunā clear bayyinātin they say qālū Not mā (is) this hādhā but illā a man rajulun who wishes yurīdu to an hinder you yaṣuddakum from what ʿammā used kāna (to) worship yaʿbudu your forefathers ābāukum And they say waqālū Not mā (is) this hādhā except illā a lie if'kun invented muf'taran And said waqāla those who alladhīna disbelieved kafarū about the truth lil'ḥaqqi when lammā it came to them jāahum Not in (is) this hādhā except illā a magic siḥ'run obvious mubīnun
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."
وَمَآ And not wamā We (had) given them ātaynāhum any min Scriptures kutubin which they could study yadrusūnahā and not wamā We sent arsalnā to them ilayhim before you qablaka any min warner nadhīrin
And We had not given them any scriptures which they could study, and We had not sent to them before you, [O Muḥammad], any warner.
وَكَذَّبَ And denied wakadhaba those who alladhīna (were) before them min (were) before them qablihim and not wamā they have attained balaghū a tenth miʿ'shāra (of) what mā We (had) given them ātaynāhum But they denied fakadhabū My Messengers rusulī so how fakayfa was kāna My rejection nakīri
And those before them denied, and they [i.e., the people of Makkah] have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But they [i.e., the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.
۞ قُلْ Say qul Only innamā I advise you aʿiẓukum for one (thing) biwāḥidatin that an you stand taqūmū for Allah lillahi (in) pairs mathnā and (as) individuals wafurādā then thumma reflect tatafakkarū Not mā (is in) your companion biṣāḥibikum any min madness jinnatin Not in he huwa (is) except illā a warner nadhīrun for you lakum before bayna before yaday a punishment ʿadhābin severe shadīdin
Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allāh, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.
قُلْ Say qul Not mā I ask you sa-altukum for min any payment ajrin but it (is) fahuwa for you lakum Not in (is) my payment ajriya but illā from ʿalā Allah l-lahi And He wahuwa (is) over ʿalā all kulli things shayin a Witness shahīdun
Say, "Whatever payment I might have asked of you - it is yours. My payment is only from Allāh, and He is, over all things, Witness."
قُلْ Say qul Indeed inna my Lord rabbī projects yaqdhifu the truth bil-ḥaqi (the) All-Knower ʿallāmu (of) the unseen l-ghuyūbi
Say, "Indeed, my Lord projects the truth, Knower of the unseen."
قُلْ Say qul Has come jāa the truth l-ḥaqu and not wamā (can) originate yub'di-u the falsehood l-bāṭilu and not wamā repeat yuʿīdu
Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it]."1
قُلْ Say qul If in I err ḍalaltu then only fa-innamā I will err aḍillu against ʿalā myself nafsī But if wa-ini I am guided ih'tadaytu then it is by what fabimā reveals yūḥī to me ilayya my Lord rabbī Indeed, He innahu (is) All-Hearer samīʿun Ever-Near qarībun
Say, "If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near."
وَلَوْ And if walaw you (could) see tarā when idh they will be terrified faziʿū but (there will be) no falā escape fawta and they will be seized wa-ukhidhū from min a place makānin near qarībin
And if you could see1 when they are terrified but there is no escape, and they will be seized from a place nearby.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they will say waqālū We believe āmannā in it bihi But how wa-annā for them lahumu (will be) the receiving l-tanāwushu from min a place makānin far off baʿīdin
And they will [then] say, "We believe in it!" But how for them will be the taking1 [of faith] from a place far away?2
وَقَدْ And certainly waqad they disbelieved kafarū in it bihi before min before qablu And they utter conjectures wayaqdhifūna about the unseen bil-ghaybi from min a place makānin far off baʿīdin
And they had already disbelieved in it before and would assault1 the unseen from a place far away.2
وَحِيلَ And a barrier will be placed waḥīla between them baynahum and between wabayna what mā they desire yashtahūna as kamā was done fuʿila with their kind bi-ashyāʿihim before min before qablu Indeed, they innahum were kānū in fī doubt shakkin disquieting murībin
And prevention will be placed between them and what they desire,1 as was done with their kind before. Indeed, they were in disquieting doubt [i.e., denial].
