سبإ

ٱلْحَمْدُ

All praises

al-ḥamdu

لِلَّهِ

(be) to Allah

lillahi

ٱلَّذِى

the One to Whom belongs

alladhī

لَهُۥ

the One to Whom belongs

lahu

مَا

whatever

فِى

(is) in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَلَهُ

and for Him

walahu

ٱلْحَمْدُ

(are) all praises

l-ḥamdu

فِى

in

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚ

the Hereafter

l-ākhirati

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

(is) the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

ٱلْخَبِيرُ

the All-Aware

l-khabīru

١

[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and to Him belongs [all] praise in the Hereafter. And He is the Wise, the Aware.

— Saheeh International

يَعْلَمُ

He knows

yaʿlamu

مَا

what

يَلِجُ

penetrates

yaliju

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَمَا

and what

wamā

يَخْرُجُ

comes out

yakhruju

مِنْهَا

from it

min'hā

وَمَا

and what

wamā

يَنزِلُ

descends

yanzilu

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the heaven

l-samāi

وَمَا

and what

wamā

يَعْرُجُ

ascends

yaʿruju

فِيهَا ۚ

therein

fīhā

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

(is) the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

ٱلْغَفُورُ

the Oft-Forgiving

l-ghafūru

٢

He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein. And He is the Merciful, the Forgiving.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

But say

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

لَا

Not

تَأْتِينَا

will come to us

tatīnā

ٱلسَّاعَةُ ۖ

the Hour

l-sāʿatu

قُلْ

Say

qul

بَلَىٰ

Nay

balā

وَرَبِّى

by my Lord

warabbī

لَتَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ

surely it will come to you

latatiyannakum

عَـٰلِمِ

(He is the) Knower

ʿālimi

ٱلْغَيْبِ ۖ

(of) the unseen

l-ghaybi

لَا

Not

يَعْزُبُ

escapes

yaʿzubu

عَنْهُ

from Him

ʿanhu

مِثْقَالُ

(the) weight

mith'qālu

ذَرَّةٍۢ

(of) an atom

dharratin

فِى

in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَلَا

and not

walā

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَصْغَرُ

smaller

aṣgharu

مِن

than

min

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَكْبَرُ

greater

akbaru

إِلَّا

but

illā

فِى

(is) in

كِتَـٰبٍۢ

a Record

kitābin

مُّبِينٍۢ

Clear

mubīnin

٣

But those who disbelieve say, "The Hour will not come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. [Allāh is] the Knower of the unseen." Not absent from Him is an atom's weight1 within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear register -

— Saheeh International

لِّيَجْزِىَ

That He may reward

liyajziya

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۚ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

لَهُم

for them

lahum

مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ

(will be) forgiveness

maghfiratun

وَرِزْقٌۭ

and a provision

wariz'qun

كَرِيمٌۭ

noble

karīmun

٤

That He may reward those who believe and do righteous deeds. Those will have forgiveness and noble provision.

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

But those who

wa-alladhīna

سَعَوْ

strive

saʿaw

فِىٓ

against

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Verses

āyātinā

مُعَـٰجِزِينَ

(to) cause failure

muʿājizīna

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

مِّن

of

min

رِّجْزٍ

foul nature

rij'zin

أَلِيمٌۭ

painful

alīmun

٥

But those who strive against Our verses [seeking] to cause failure1 - for them will be a painful punishment of foul nature.

— Saheeh International

وَيَرَى

And see

wayarā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُوتُوا۟

have been given

ūtū

ٱلْعِلْمَ

the knowledge

l-ʿil'ma

ٱلَّذِىٓ

(that) what

alladhī

أُنزِلَ

is revealed

unzila

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

مِن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

هُوَ

[it]

huwa

ٱلْحَقَّ

(is) the Truth

l-ḥaqa

وَيَهْدِىٓ

and it guides

wayahdī

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

صِرَٰطِ

(the) Path

ṣirāṭi

ٱلْعَزِيزِ

(of) the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzi

ٱلْحَمِيدِ

the Praiseworthy

l-ḥamīdi

٦

And those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and it guides to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

But say

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

هَلْ

Shall

hal

نَدُلُّكُمْ

we direct you

nadullukum

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

رَجُلٍۢ

a man

rajulin

يُنَبِّئُكُمْ

who informs you

yunabbi-ukum

إِذَا

when

idhā

مُزِّقْتُمْ

you have disintegrated

muzziq'tum

كُلَّ

(in) total

kulla

مُمَزَّقٍ

disintegration

mumazzaqin

إِنَّكُمْ

indeed you

innakum

لَفِى

surely (will be) in

lafī

خَلْقٍۢ

a creation

khalqin

جَدِيدٍ

new

jadīdin

٧

But those who disbelieve say, "Shall we direct you to a man who will inform you [that] when you have disintegrated in complete disintegration, you will [then] be [recreated] in a new creation?

— Saheeh International

أَفْتَرَىٰ

Has he invented

aftarā

عَلَى

about

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

كَذِبًا

a lie

kadhiban

أَم

or

am

بِهِۦ

in him

bihi

جِنَّةٌۢ ۗ

(is) madness

jinnatun

بَلِ

Nay

bali

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

لَا

(do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

believe

yu'minūna

بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

in the Hereafter

bil-ākhirati

فِى

(will be) in

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

وَٱلضَّلَـٰلِ

and error

wal-ḍalāli

ٱلْبَعِيدِ

far

l-baʿīdi

٨

Has he invented about Allāh a lie or is there in him madness?" Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter will be in the punishment and [are in] extreme error.

— Saheeh International

أَفَلَمْ

Then, do not

afalam

يَرَوْا۟

they see

yaraw

إِلَىٰ

towards

ilā

مَا

what

بَيْنَ

(is) before them

bayna

أَيْدِيهِمْ

(is) before them

aydīhim

وَمَا

and what

wamā

خَلْفَهُم

(is) behind them

khalfahum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

the heaven

l-samāi

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

إِن

If

in

نَّشَأْ

We will

nasha

نَخْسِفْ

We (could) cause to swallow them

nakhsif

بِهِمُ

We (could) cause to swallow them

bihimu

ٱلْأَرْضَ

the earth

l-arḍa

أَوْ

or

aw

نُسْقِطْ

cause to fall

nus'qiṭ

عَلَيْهِمْ

upon them

ʿalayhim

كِسَفًۭا

fragments

kisafan

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ

the sky

l-samāi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَةًۭ

surely, is a Sign

laāyatan

لِّكُلِّ

for every

likulli

عَبْدٍۢ

slave

ʿabdin

مُّنِيبٍۢ

who turns (to Allah)

munībin

٩

Then, do they not look at what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and earth? If We should will, We could cause the earth to swallow them or [could] let fall upon them fragments from the sky. Indeed in that is a sign for every servant turning back [to Allāh].

— Saheeh International

۞ وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

ءَاتَيْنَا

We gave

ātaynā

دَاوُۥدَ

Dawood

dāwūda

مِنَّا

from Us

minnā

فَضْلًۭا ۖ

Bounty

faḍlan

يَـٰجِبَالُ

O mountains

yājibālu

أَوِّبِى

Repeat praises

awwibī

مَعَهُۥ

with him

maʿahu

وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۖ

and the birds

wal-ṭayra

وَأَلَنَّا

And We made pliable

wa-alannā

لَهُ

for him

lahu

ٱلْحَدِيدَ

[the] iron

l-ḥadīda

١٠

And We certainly gave David from Us bounty. [We said], "O mountains, repeat [Our] praises with him, and the birds [as well]." And We made pliable for him iron,

— Saheeh International

أَنِ

That

ani

ٱعْمَلْ

make

iʿ'mal

سَـٰبِغَـٰتٍۢ

full coats of mail

sābighātin

وَقَدِّرْ

and measure precisely

waqaddir

فِى

[of]

ٱلسَّرْدِ ۖ

the links (of armor)

l-sardi

وَٱعْمَلُوا۟

and work

wa-iʿ'malū

صَـٰلِحًا ۖ

righteousness

ṣāliḥan

إِنِّى

Indeed, I Am

innī

بِمَا

of what

bimā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

بَصِيرٌۭ

All-Seer

baṣīrun

١١

[Commanding him], "Make full coats of mail and calculate [precisely] the links, and work [all of you] righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Seeing."

— Saheeh International

وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ

And to Sulaiman

walisulaymāna

ٱلرِّيحَ

the wind

l-rīḥa

غُدُوُّهَا

its morning course

ghuduwwuhā

شَهْرٌۭ

(was) a month

shahrun

وَرَوَاحُهَا

and its afternoon course

warawāḥuhā

شَهْرٌۭ ۖ

(was) a month

shahrun

وَأَسَلْنَا

and We caused to flow

wa-asalnā

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

عَيْنَ

a spring

ʿayna

ٱلْقِطْرِ ۖ

(of) molten copper

l-qiṭ'ri

وَمِنَ

And [of]

wamina

ٱلْجِنِّ

the jinn

l-jini

مَن

who

man

يَعْمَلُ

worked

yaʿmalu

بَيْنَ

before him

bayna

يَدَيْهِ

before him

yadayhi

بِإِذْنِ

by the permission

bi-idh'ni

رَبِّهِۦ ۖ

(of) his Lord

rabbihi

وَمَن

And whoever

waman

يَزِغْ

deviated

yazigh

مِنْهُمْ

among them

min'hum

عَنْ

from

ʿan

أَمْرِنَا

Our Command

amrinā

نُذِقْهُ

We will make him taste

nudhiq'hu

مِنْ

of

min

عَذَابِ

(the) punishment

ʿadhābi

ٱلسَّعِيرِ

(of) the Blaze

l-saʿīri

١٢

And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind - its morning [journey was that of] a month - and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command - We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze.

— Saheeh International

يَعْمَلُونَ

They worked

yaʿmalūna

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

مَا

what

يَشَآءُ

he willed

yashāu

مِن

of

min

مَّحَـٰرِيبَ

elevated chambers

maḥārība

وَتَمَـٰثِيلَ

and statues

watamāthīla

وَجِفَانٍۢ

and bowls

wajifānin

كَٱلْجَوَابِ

like reservoirs

kal-jawābi

وَقُدُورٍۢ

and cooking-pots

waqudūrin

رَّاسِيَـٰتٍ ۚ

fixed

rāsiyātin

ٱعْمَلُوٓا۟

Work

iʿ'malū

ءَالَ

O family

āla

دَاوُۥدَ

(of) Dawood

dāwūda

شُكْرًۭا ۚ

(in) gratitude

shuk'ran

وَقَلِيلٌۭ

But few

waqalīlun

مِّنْ

of

min

عِبَادِىَ

My slaves

ʿibādiya

ٱلشَّكُورُ

(are) grateful

l-shakūru

١٣

They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers,1 statues,2 bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. [We said], "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful.

— Saheeh International

فَلَمَّا

Then when

falammā

قَضَيْنَا

We decreed

qaḍaynā

عَلَيْهِ

for him

ʿalayhi

ٱلْمَوْتَ

the death

l-mawta

مَا

not

دَلَّهُمْ

indicated to them

dallahum

عَلَىٰ

[on]

ʿalā

مَوْتِهِۦٓ

his death

mawtihi

إِلَّا

except

illā

دَآبَّةُ

a creature

dābbatu

ٱلْأَرْضِ

(of) the earth

l-arḍi

تَأْكُلُ

eating

takulu

مِنسَأَتَهُۥ ۖ

his staff

minsa-atahu

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

خَرَّ

he fell down

kharra

تَبَيَّنَتِ

became clear

tabayyanati

ٱلْجِنُّ

(to) the jinn

l-jinu

أَن

that

an

لَّوْ

if

law

كَانُوا۟

they had

kānū

يَعْلَمُونَ

known

yaʿlamūna

ٱلْغَيْبَ

the unseen

l-ghayba

مَا

not

لَبِثُوا۟

they (would have) remained

labithū

فِى

in

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

ٱلْمُهِينِ

humiliating

l-muhīni

١٤

And when We decreed for him [i.e., Solomon] death, nothing indicated to them [i.e., the jinn] his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff.1 But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment.2

— Saheeh International

لَقَدْ

Certainly

laqad

كَانَ

(there) was

kāna

لِسَبَإٍۢ

for Saba

lisaba-in

فِى

in

مَسْكَنِهِمْ

their dwelling place

maskanihim

ءَايَةٌۭ ۖ

a sign:

āyatun

جَنَّتَانِ

Two gardens

jannatāni

عَن

on

ʿan

يَمِينٍۢ

(the) right

yamīnin

وَشِمَالٍۢ ۖ

and (on the) left

washimālin

كُلُوا۟

Eat

kulū

مِن

from

min

رِّزْقِ

(the) provision

riz'qi

رَبِّكُمْ

(of) your Lord

rabbikum

وَٱشْكُرُوا۟

and be grateful

wa-ush'kurū

لَهُۥ ۚ

to Him

lahu

بَلْدَةٌۭ

A land

baldatun

طَيِّبَةٌۭ

good

ṭayyibatun

وَرَبٌّ

and a Lord

warabbun

غَفُورٌۭ

Oft-Forgiving

ghafūrun

١٥

There was for [the tribe of] Saba’ in their dwelling place a sign: two [fields of] gardens on the right and on the left. [They were told], "Eat from the provisions of your Lord and be grateful to Him. A good land [have you], and a forgiving Lord."

— Saheeh International

فَأَعْرَضُوا۟

But they turned away

fa-aʿraḍū

فَأَرْسَلْنَا

so We sent

fa-arsalnā

عَلَيْهِمْ

upon them

ʿalayhim

سَيْلَ

(the) flood

sayla

ٱلْعَرِمِ

(of) the dam

l-ʿarimi

وَبَدَّلْنَـٰهُم

and We changed for them

wabaddalnāhum

بِجَنَّتَيْهِمْ

their two gardens

bijannatayhim

جَنَّتَيْنِ

(with) two gardens

jannatayni

ذَوَاتَىْ

producing fruit

dhawātay

أُكُلٍ

producing fruit

ukulin

خَمْطٍۢ

bitter

khamṭin

وَأَثْلٍۢ

and tamarisks

wa-athlin

وَشَىْءٍۢ

and (some)thing

washayin

مِّن

of

min

سِدْرٍۢ

lote trees

sid'rin

قَلِيلٍۢ

few

qalīlin

١٦

But they turned away [refusing], so We sent upon them the flood of the dam,1 and We replaced their two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something of sparse lote trees.

— Saheeh International

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

جَزَيْنَـٰهُم

We recompensed them

jazaynāhum

بِمَا

because

bimā

كَفَرُوا۟ ۖ

they disbelieved

kafarū

وَهَلْ

And not

wahal

نُجَـٰزِىٓ

We recompense

nujāzī

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلْكَفُورَ

the ungrateful

l-kafūra

١٧

[By] that We repaid them because they disbelieved. And do We [thus] repay except the ungrateful?

— Saheeh International

وَجَعَلْنَا

And We made

wajaʿalnā

بَيْنَهُمْ

between them

baynahum

وَبَيْنَ

and between

wabayna

ٱلْقُرَى

the towns

l-qurā

ٱلَّتِى

which

allatī

بَـٰرَكْنَا

We had blessed

bāraknā

فِيهَا

in it

fīhā

قُرًۭى

towns

quran

ظَـٰهِرَةًۭ

visible

ẓāhiratan

وَقَدَّرْنَا

And We determined

waqaddarnā

فِيهَا

between them

fīhā

ٱلسَّيْرَ ۖ

the journey

l-sayra

سِيرُوا۟

Travel

sīrū

فِيهَا

between them

fīhā

لَيَالِىَ

(by) night

layāliya

وَأَيَّامًا

and (by) day

wa-ayyāman

ءَامِنِينَ

safely

āminīna

١٨

And We placed between them and the cities which We had blessed1 [many] visible cities. And We determined between them the [distances of] journey,2 [saying], "Travel between them by night or by day in safety."

— Saheeh International

فَقَالُوا۟

But they said

faqālū

رَبَّنَا

Our Lord

rabbanā

بَـٰعِدْ

lengthen (the distance)

bāʿid

بَيْنَ

between

bayna

أَسْفَارِنَا

our journeys

asfārinā

وَظَلَمُوٓا۟

And they wronged

waẓalamū

أَنفُسَهُمْ

themselves

anfusahum

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ

so We made them

fajaʿalnāhum

أَحَادِيثَ

narrations

aḥādītha

وَمَزَّقْنَـٰهُمْ

and We dispersed them

wamazzaqnāhum

كُلَّ

(in) a total

kulla

مُمَزَّقٍ ۚ

dispersion

mumazzaqin

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِى

in

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ

surely (are) Signs

laāyātin

لِّكُلِّ

for everyone

likulli

صَبَّارٍۢ

patient

ṣabbārin

شَكُورٍۢ

(and) grateful

shakūrin

١٩

But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations1 and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

— Saheeh International

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

صَدَّقَ

found true

ṣaddaqa

عَلَيْهِمْ

about them

ʿalayhim

إِبْلِيسُ

Iblis

ib'līsu

ظَنَّهُۥ

his assumption

ẓannahu

فَٱتَّبَعُوهُ

so they followed him

fa-ittabaʿūhu

إِلَّا

except

illā

فَرِيقًۭا

a group

farīqan

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

the believers

l-mu'minīna

٢٠

And Iblees had already confirmed through them1 his assumption,2 so they followed him, except for a party of believers.

— Saheeh International

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

was

kāna

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

عَلَيْهِم

over them

ʿalayhim

مِّن

any

min

سُلْطَـٰنٍ

authority

sul'ṭānin

إِلَّا

except

illā

لِنَعْلَمَ

that We (might) make evident

linaʿlama

مَن

who

man

يُؤْمِنُ

believes

yu'minu

بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

in the Hereafter

bil-ākhirati

مِمَّنْ

from (one) who

mimman

هُوَ

[he]

huwa

مِنْهَا

about it

min'hā

فِى

(is) in

شَكٍّۢ ۗ

doubt

shakkin

وَرَبُّكَ

And your Lord

warabbuka

عَلَىٰ

over

ʿalā

كُلِّ

all

kulli

شَىْءٍ

things

shayin

حَفِيظٌۭ

(is) a Guardian

ḥafīẓun

٢١

And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt. And your Lord, over all things, is Guardian.1

— Saheeh International

قُلِ

Say

quli

ٱدْعُوا۟

Call upon

id'ʿū

ٱلَّذِينَ

those whom

alladhīna

زَعَمْتُم

you claim

zaʿamtum

مِّن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

Allah

l-lahi

لَا

Not

يَمْلِكُونَ

they possess

yamlikūna

مِثْقَالَ

(the) weight

mith'qāla

ذَرَّةٍۢ

(of) an atom

dharratin

فِى

in

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَلَا

and not

walā

فِى

in

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَمَا

and not

wamā

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

فِيهِمَا

in both of them

fīhimā

مِن

any

min

شِرْكٍۢ

partnership

shir'kin

وَمَا

and not

wamā

لَهُۥ

for Him

lahu

مِنْهُم

from them

min'hum

مِّن

any

min

ظَهِيرٍۢ

supporter

ẓahīrin

٢٢

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Invoke those you claim [as deities] besides Allāh." They do not possess an atom's weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them any assistant.

— Saheeh International

وَلَا

And not

walā

تَنفَعُ

benefits

tanfaʿu

ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ

the intercession

l-shafāʿatu

عِندَهُۥٓ

with Him

ʿindahu

إِلَّا

except

illā

لِمَنْ

for (one) whom

liman

أَذِنَ

He permits

adhina

لَهُۥ ۚ

for him

lahu

حَتَّىٰٓ

Until

ḥattā

إِذَا

when

idhā

فُزِّعَ

fear is removed

fuzziʿa

عَن

on

ʿan

قُلُوبِهِمْ

their hearts

qulūbihim

قَالُوا۟

they will say

qālū

مَاذَا

What is that

mādhā

قَالَ

your Lord has said

qāla

رَبُّكُمْ ۖ

your Lord has said

rabbukum

قَالُوا۟

They will say

qālū

ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ

The truth

l-ḥaqa

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْعَلِىُّ

(is) the Most High

l-ʿaliyu

ٱلْكَبِيرُ

the Most Great

l-kabīru

٢٣

And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts,1 they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand.

— Saheeh International

۞ قُلْ

Say

qul

مَن

Who

man

يَرْزُقُكُم

provides (for) you

yarzuqukum

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

and the earth

wal-arḍi

قُلِ

Say

quli

ٱللَّهُ ۖ

Allah

l-lahu

وَإِنَّآ

And indeed, we

wa-innā

أَوْ

or

aw

إِيَّاكُمْ

you

iyyākum

لَعَلَىٰ

(are) surely upon

laʿalā

هُدًى

guidance

hudan

أَوْ

or

aw

فِى

in

ضَلَـٰلٍۢ

error

ḍalālin

مُّبِينٍۢ

clear

mubīnin

٢٤

Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allāh. And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error."

— Saheeh International

قُل

Say

qul

لَّا

Not

تُسْـَٔلُونَ

you will be asked

tus'alūna

عَمَّآ

about what

ʿammā

أَجْرَمْنَا

sins we committed

ajramnā

وَلَا

and not

walā

نُسْـَٔلُ

we will be asked

nus'alu

عَمَّا

about what

ʿammā

تَعْمَلُونَ

you do

taʿmalūna

٢٥

Say, "You will not be asked about what we committed, and we will not be asked about what you do."

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

يَجْمَعُ

Will gather

yajmaʿu

بَيْنَنَا

us together

baynanā

رَبُّنَا

our Lord

rabbunā

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يَفْتَحُ

He will judge

yaftaḥu

بَيْنَنَا

between us

baynanā

بِٱلْحَقِّ

in truth

bil-ḥaqi

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

ٱلْفَتَّاحُ

(is) the Judge

l-fatāḥu

ٱلْعَلِيمُ

the All-Knowing

l-ʿalīmu

٢٦

Say, "Our Lord will bring us together; then He will judge between us in truth. And He is the Knowing Judge."1

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

أَرُونِىَ

Show me

arūniya

ٱلَّذِينَ

those whom

alladhīna

أَلْحَقْتُم

you have joined

alḥaqtum

بِهِۦ

with Him

bihi

شُرَكَآءَ ۖ

(as) partners

shurakāa

كَلَّا ۚ

By no means

kallā

بَلْ

Nay

bal

هُوَ

He

huwa

ٱللَّهُ

(is) Allah

l-lahu

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْحَكِيمُ

the All-Wise

l-ḥakīmu

٢٧

Say, "Show me those whom you have attached to Him as partners. No! Rather, He [alone] is Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ

We have sent you

arsalnāka

إِلَّا

except

illā

كَآفَّةًۭ

comprehensively

kāffatan

لِّلنَّاسِ

to mankind

lilnnāsi

بَشِيرًۭا

(as) a giver of glad tidings

bashīran

وَنَذِيرًۭا

and (as) a warner

wanadhīran

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

But

walākinna

أَكْثَرَ

most

akthara

ٱلنَّاسِ

[the] people

l-nāsi

لَا

(do) not

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

٢٨

And We have not sent you except comprehensively1 to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. But most of the people do not know.

— Saheeh International

وَيَقُولُونَ

And they say

wayaqūlūna

مَتَىٰ

When

matā

هَـٰذَا

(is) this

hādhā

ٱلْوَعْدُ

promise

l-waʿdu

إِن

if

in

كُنتُمْ

you are

kuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٢٩

And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

— Saheeh International

قُل

Say

qul

لَّكُم

For you

lakum

مِّيعَادُ

(is the) appointment

mīʿādu

يَوْمٍۢ

(of) a Day

yawmin

لَّا

not

تَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ

you can postpone

tastakhirūna

عَنْهُ

[of] it

ʿanhu

سَاعَةًۭ

(for) an hour

sāʿatan

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَسْتَقْدِمُونَ

(can) you precede (it)

tastaqdimūna

٣٠

Say, "For you is the appointment of a Day [when] you will not remain thereafter an hour, nor will you precede [it]."

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

And say

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

لَن

Never will

lan

نُّؤْمِنَ

we believe

nu'mina

بِهَـٰذَا

in this

bihādhā

ٱلْقُرْءَانِ

Quran

l-qur'āni

وَلَا

and not

walā

بِٱلَّذِى

in (that) which

bi-alladhī

بَيْنَ

(was) before it

bayna

يَدَيْهِ ۗ

(was) before it

yadayhi

وَلَوْ

But if

walaw

تَرَىٰٓ

you (could) see

tarā

إِذِ

when

idhi

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimūna

مَوْقُوفُونَ

will be made to stand

mawqūfūna

عِندَ

before

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

يَرْجِعُ

will throw back

yarjiʿu

بَعْضُهُمْ

some of them

baʿḍuhum

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

بَعْضٍ

others

baʿḍin

ٱلْقَوْلَ

the word

l-qawla

يَقُولُ

Will say

yaqūlu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟

were oppressed

us'tuḍ'ʿifū

لِلَّذِينَ

to those who

lilladhīna

ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟

were arrogant

is'takbarū

لَوْلَآ

If not

lawlā

أَنتُمْ

(for) you

antum

لَكُنَّا

certainly we (would) have been

lakunnā

مُؤْمِنِينَ

believers

mu'minīna

٣١

And those who disbelieve say, "We will never believe in this Qur’ān nor in that before it." But if you could see when the wrongdoers are made to stand before their Lord, refuting each others' words...1 Those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, "If not for you, we would have been believers."

— Saheeh International

قَالَ

Will say

qāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟

were arrogant

is'takbarū

لِلَّذِينَ

to those

lilladhīna

ٱسْتُضْعِفُوٓا۟

who were oppressed

us'tuḍ'ʿifū

أَنَحْنُ

Did we

anaḥnu

صَدَدْنَـٰكُمْ

avert you

ṣadadnākum

عَنِ

from

ʿani

ٱلْهُدَىٰ

the guidance

l-hudā

بَعْدَ

after

baʿda

إِذْ

when

idh

جَآءَكُم ۖ

it had come to you

jāakum

بَلْ

Nay

bal

كُنتُم

you were

kuntum

مُّجْرِمِينَ

criminals

muj'rimīna

٣٢

Those who were arrogant will say to those who were oppressed, "Did we avert you from guidance after it had come to you? Rather, you were criminals."

— Saheeh International

وَقَالَ

And will say

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟

were oppressed

us'tuḍ'ʿifū

لِلَّذِينَ

to those who

lilladhīna

ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟

were arrogant

is'takbarū

بَلْ

Nay

bal

مَكْرُ

(it was) a plot

makru

ٱلَّيْلِ

(by) night

al-layli

وَٱلنَّهَارِ

and (by) day

wal-nahāri

إِذْ

when

idh

تَأْمُرُونَنَآ

you were ordering us

tamurūnanā

أَن

that

an

نَّكْفُرَ

we disbelieve

nakfura

بِٱللَّهِ

in Allah

bil-lahi

وَنَجْعَلَ

and we set up

wanajʿala

لَهُۥٓ

for Him

lahu

أَندَادًۭا ۚ

equals

andādan

وَأَسَرُّوا۟

But they will conceal

wa-asarrū

ٱلنَّدَامَةَ

the regret

l-nadāmata

لَمَّا

when

lammā

رَأَوُا۟

they see

ra-awū

ٱلْعَذَابَ

the punishment

l-ʿadhāba

وَجَعَلْنَا

And We will put

wajaʿalnā

ٱلْأَغْلَـٰلَ

shackles

l-aghlāla

فِىٓ

on

أَعْنَاقِ

(the) necks

aʿnāqi

ٱلَّذِينَ

(of) those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ

disbelieved

kafarū

هَلْ

Will

hal

يُجْزَوْنَ

they be recompensed

yuj'zawna

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَا

(for) what

كَانُوا۟

they used to

kānū

يَعْمَلُونَ

do

yaʿmalūna

٣٣

Those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, "Rather, [it was your] conspiracy of night and day when you were ordering us to disbelieve in Allāh and attribute to Him equals." But they will [all] confide regret when they see the punishment; and We will put shackles on the necks of those who disbelieved. Will they be recompensed except for what they used to do?

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أَرْسَلْنَا

We sent

arsalnā

فِى

to

قَرْيَةٍۢ

a town

qaryatin

مِّن

any

min

نَّذِيرٍ

warner

nadhīrin

إِلَّا

but

illā

قَالَ

said

qāla

مُتْرَفُوهَآ

its wealthy ones

mut'rafūhā

إِنَّا

Indeed we

innā

بِمَآ

in what

bimā

أُرْسِلْتُم

you have been sent

ur'sil'tum

بِهِۦ

with

bihi

كَـٰفِرُونَ

(are) disbelievers

kāfirūna

٣٤

And We did not send into a city any warner except that its affluent said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."

— Saheeh International

وَقَالُوا۟

And they say

waqālū

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

أَكْثَرُ

(have) more

aktharu

أَمْوَٰلًۭا

wealth

amwālan

وَأَوْلَـٰدًۭا

and children

wa-awlādan

وَمَا

and not

wamā

نَحْنُ

we

naḥnu

بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

will be punished

bimuʿadhabīna

٣٥

And they1 said, "We are more [than the believers] in wealth and children, and we are not to be punished."

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

يَبْسُطُ

extends

yabsuṭu

ٱلرِّزْقَ

the provision

l-riz'qa

لِمَن

for whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَقْدِرُ

and restricts

wayaqdiru

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

but

walākinna

أَكْثَرَ

most

akthara

ٱلنَّاسِ

[the] people

l-nāsi

لَا

(do) not

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

٣٦

Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it], but most of the people do not know."

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ

your wealth

amwālukum

وَلَآ

and not

walā

أَوْلَـٰدُكُم

your children

awlādukum

بِٱلَّتِى

[that]

bi-allatī

تُقَرِّبُكُمْ

will bring you close

tuqarribukum

عِندَنَا

to Us

ʿindanā

زُلْفَىٰٓ

(in) position

zul'fā

إِلَّا

but

illā

مَنْ

whoever

man

ءَامَنَ

believes

āmana

وَعَمِلَ

and does

waʿamila

صَـٰلِحًۭا

righteousness

ṣāliḥan

فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

then those

fa-ulāika

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

جَزَآءُ

(will be) reward

jazāu

ٱلضِّعْفِ

two-fold

l-ḍiʿ'fi

بِمَا

for what

bimā

عَمِلُوا۟

they did

ʿamilū

وَهُمْ

and they

wahum

فِى

(will be) in

ٱلْغُرُفَـٰتِ

the high dwellings

l-ghurufāti

ءَامِنُونَ

secure

āminūna

٣٧

And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, but it is [by being] one who has believed and done righteousness. For them there will be the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the upper chambers [of Paradise], safe [and secure].

— Saheeh International

وَٱلَّذِينَ

And those who

wa-alladhīna

يَسْعَوْنَ

strive

yasʿawna

فِىٓ

against

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Verses

āyātinā

مُعَـٰجِزِينَ

(to) cause failure

muʿājizīna

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

those

ulāika

فِى

into

ٱلْعَذَابِ

the punishment

l-ʿadhābi

مُحْضَرُونَ

(will be) brought

muḥ'ḍarūna

٣٨

And the ones who strive against Our verses to cause [them] failure1 - those will be brought into the punishment [to remain].

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

يَبْسُطُ

extends

yabsuṭu

ٱلرِّزْقَ

the provision

l-riz'qa

لِمَن

for whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

مِنْ

of

min

عِبَادِهِۦ

His slaves

ʿibādihi

وَيَقْدِرُ

and restricts

wayaqdiru

لَهُۥ ۚ

for him

lahu

وَمَآ

But what

wamā

أَنفَقْتُم

you spend

anfaqtum

مِّن

of

min

شَىْءٍۢ

anything

shayin

فَهُوَ

then He

fahuwa

يُخْلِفُهُۥ ۖ

will compensate it

yukh'lifuhu

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

خَيْرُ

(is the) Best

khayru

ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ

(of) the Providers

l-rāziqīna

٣٩

Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."

— Saheeh International

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

wayawma

يَحْشُرُهُمْ

He will gather them

yaḥshuruhum

جَمِيعًۭا

all

jamīʿan

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

يَقُولُ

He will say

yaqūlu

لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ

to the Angels

lil'malāikati

أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ

Were these you

ahāulāi

إِيَّاكُمْ

Were these you

iyyākum

كَانُوا۟

they were

kānū

يَعْبُدُونَ

worshipping

yaʿbudūna

٤٠

And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, "Did these [people] used to worship you?"

— Saheeh International

قَالُوا۟

They will say

qālū

سُبْحَـٰنَكَ

Glory be to You

sub'ḥānaka

أَنتَ

You

anta

وَلِيُّنَا

(are) our Protector

waliyyunā

مِن

not them

min

دُونِهِم ۖ

not them

dūnihim

بَلْ

Nay

bal

كَانُوا۟

they used

kānū

يَعْبُدُونَ

(to) worship

yaʿbudūna

ٱلْجِنَّ ۖ

the jinn

l-jina

أَكْثَرُهُم

most of them

aktharuhum

بِهِم

in them

bihim

مُّؤْمِنُونَ

(were) believers

mu'minūna

٤١

They will say, "Exalted are You! You, [O Allāh], are our benefactor excluding [i.e., not] them. Rather, they used to worship the jinn; most of them were believers in them."

— Saheeh International

فَٱلْيَوْمَ

But today

fal-yawma

لَا

not

يَمْلِكُ

possess power

yamliku

بَعْضُكُمْ

some of you

baʿḍukum

لِبَعْضٍۢ

on others

libaʿḍin

نَّفْعًۭا

to benefit

nafʿan

وَلَا

and not

walā

ضَرًّۭا

to harm

ḍarran

وَنَقُولُ

and We will say

wanaqūlu

لِلَّذِينَ

to those

lilladhīna

ظَلَمُوا۟

who wronged

ẓalamū

ذُوقُوا۟

Taste

dhūqū

عَذَابَ

(the) punishment

ʿadhāba

ٱلنَّارِ

(of) the Fire

l-nāri

ٱلَّتِى

which

allatī

كُنتُم

you used

kuntum

بِهَا

to [it]

bihā

تُكَذِّبُونَ

deny

tukadhibūna

٤٢

But today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] you do not hold for one another [the power of] benefit or harm, and We will say to those who wronged, "Taste the punishment of the Fire, which you used to deny."

— Saheeh International

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

تُتْلَىٰ

are recited

tut'lā

عَلَيْهِمْ

to them

ʿalayhim

ءَايَـٰتُنَا

Our Verses

āyātunā

بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ

clear

bayyinātin

قَالُوا۟

they say

qālū

مَا

Not

هَـٰذَآ

(is) this

hādhā

إِلَّا

but

illā

رَجُلٌۭ

a man

rajulun

يُرِيدُ

who wishes

yurīdu

أَن

to

an

يَصُدَّكُمْ

hinder you

yaṣuddakum

عَمَّا

from what

ʿammā

كَانَ

used

kāna

يَعْبُدُ

(to) worship

yaʿbudu

ءَابَآؤُكُمْ

your forefathers

ābāukum

وَقَالُوا۟

And they say

waqālū

مَا

Not

هَـٰذَآ

(is) this

hādhā

إِلَّآ

except

illā

إِفْكٌۭ

a lie

if'kun

مُّفْتَرًۭى ۚ

invented

muf'taran

وَقَالَ

And said

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieved

kafarū

لِلْحَقِّ

about the truth

lil'ḥaqqi

لَمَّا

when

lammā

جَآءَهُمْ

it came to them

jāahum

إِنْ

Not

in

هَـٰذَآ

(is) this

hādhā

إِلَّا

except

illā

سِحْرٌۭ

a magic

siḥ'run

مُّبِينٌۭ

obvious

mubīnun

٤٣

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."

— Saheeh International

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم

We (had) given them

ātaynāhum

مِّن

any

min

كُتُبٍۢ

Scriptures

kutubin

يَدْرُسُونَهَا ۖ

which they could study

yadrusūnahā

وَمَآ

and not

wamā

أَرْسَلْنَآ

We sent

arsalnā

إِلَيْهِمْ

to them

ilayhim

قَبْلَكَ

before you

qablaka

مِن

any

min

نَّذِيرٍۢ

warner

nadhīrin

٤٤

And We had not given them any scriptures which they could study, and We had not sent to them before you, [O Muḥammad], any warner.

— Saheeh International

وَكَذَّبَ

And denied

wakadhaba

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

مِن

(were) before them

min

قَبْلِهِمْ

(were) before them

qablihim

وَمَا

and not

wamā

بَلَغُوا۟

they have attained

balaghū

مِعْشَارَ

a tenth

miʿ'shāra

مَآ

(of) what

ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ

We (had) given them

ātaynāhum

فَكَذَّبُوا۟

But they denied

fakadhabū

رُسُلِى ۖ

My Messengers

rusulī

فَكَيْفَ

so how

fakayfa

كَانَ

was

kāna

نَكِيرِ

My rejection

nakīri

٤٥

And those before them denied, and they [i.e., the people of Makkah] have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But they [i.e., the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.

— Saheeh International

۞ قُلْ

Say

qul

إِنَّمَآ

Only

innamā

أَعِظُكُم

I advise you

aʿiẓukum

بِوَٰحِدَةٍ ۖ

for one (thing)

biwāḥidatin

أَن

that

an

تَقُومُوا۟

you stand

taqūmū

لِلَّهِ

for Allah

lillahi

مَثْنَىٰ

(in) pairs

mathnā

وَفُرَٰدَىٰ

and (as) individuals

wafurādā

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

تَتَفَكَّرُوا۟ ۚ

reflect

tatafakkarū

مَا

Not

بِصَاحِبِكُم

(is in) your companion

biṣāḥibikum

مِّن

any

min

جِنَّةٍ ۚ

madness

jinnatin

إِنْ

Not

in

هُوَ

he

huwa

إِلَّا

(is) except

illā

نَذِيرٌۭ

a warner

nadhīrun

لَّكُم

for you

lakum

بَيْنَ

before

bayna

يَدَىْ

before

yaday

عَذَابٍۢ

a punishment

ʿadhābin

شَدِيدٍۢ

severe

shadīdin

٤٦

Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allāh, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

مَا

Not

سَأَلْتُكُم

I ask you

sa-altukum

مِّنْ

for

أَجْرٍۢ

any payment

ajrin

فَهُوَ

but it (is)

fahuwa

لَكُمْ ۖ

for you

lakum

إِنْ

Not

in

أَجْرِىَ

(is) my payment

ajriya

إِلَّا

but

illā

عَلَى

from

ʿalā

ٱللَّهِ ۖ

Allah

l-lahi

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

عَلَىٰ

(is) over

ʿalā

كُلِّ

all

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

شَهِيدٌۭ

a Witness

shahīdun

٤٧

Say, "Whatever payment I might have asked of you - it is yours. My payment is only from Allāh, and He is, over all things, Witness."

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

يَقْذِفُ

projects

yaqdhifu

بِٱلْحَقِّ

the truth

bil-ḥaqi

عَلَّـٰمُ

(the) All-Knower

ʿallāmu

ٱلْغُيُوبِ

(of) the unseen

l-ghuyūbi

٤٨

Say, "Indeed, my Lord projects the truth, Knower of the unseen."

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

جَآءَ

Has come

jāa

ٱلْحَقُّ

the truth

l-ḥaqu

وَمَا

and not

wamā

يُبْدِئُ

(can) originate

yub'di-u

ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ

the falsehood

l-bāṭilu

وَمَا

and not

wamā

يُعِيدُ

repeat

yuʿīdu

٤٩

Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it]."1

— Saheeh International

قُلْ

Say

qul

إِن

If

in

ضَلَلْتُ

I err

ḍalaltu

فَإِنَّمَآ

then only

fa-innamā

أَضِلُّ

I will err

aḍillu

عَلَىٰ

against

ʿalā

نَفْسِى ۖ

myself

nafsī

وَإِنِ

But if

wa-ini

ٱهْتَدَيْتُ

I am guided

ih'tadaytu

فَبِمَا

then it is by what

fabimā

يُوحِىٓ

reveals

yūḥī

إِلَىَّ

to me

ilayya

رَبِّىٓ ۚ

my Lord

rabbī

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, He

innahu

سَمِيعٌۭ

(is) All-Hearer

samīʿun

قَرِيبٌۭ

Ever-Near

qarībun

٥٠

Say, "If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near."

— Saheeh International

وَلَوْ

And if

walaw

تَرَىٰٓ

you (could) see

tarā

إِذْ

when

idh

فَزِعُوا۟

they will be terrified

faziʿū

فَلَا

but (there will be) no

falā

فَوْتَ

escape

fawta

وَأُخِذُوا۟

and they will be seized

wa-ukhidhū

مِن

from

min

مَّكَانٍۢ

a place

makānin

قَرِيبٍۢ

near

qarībin

٥١

And if you could see1 when they are terrified but there is no escape, and they will be seized from a place nearby.

— Saheeh International

وَقَالُوٓا۟

And they will say

waqālū

ءَامَنَّا

We believe

āmannā

بِهِۦ

in it

bihi

وَأَنَّىٰ

But how

wa-annā

لَهُمُ

for them

lahumu

ٱلتَّنَاوُشُ

(will be) the receiving

l-tanāwushu

مِن

from

min

مَّكَانٍۭ

a place

makānin

بَعِيدٍۢ

far off

baʿīdin

٥٢

And they will [then] say, "We believe in it!" But how for them will be the taking1 [of faith] from a place far away?2

— Saheeh International

وَقَدْ

And certainly

waqad

كَفَرُوا۟

they disbelieved

kafarū

بِهِۦ

in it

bihi

مِن

before

min

قَبْلُ ۖ

before

qablu

وَيَقْذِفُونَ

And they utter conjectures

wayaqdhifūna

بِٱلْغَيْبِ

about the unseen

bil-ghaybi

مِن

from

min

مَّكَانٍۭ

a place

makānin

بَعِيدٍۢ

far off

baʿīdin

٥٣

And they had already disbelieved in it before and would assault1 the unseen from a place far away.2

— Saheeh International

وَحِيلَ

And a barrier will be placed

waḥīla

بَيْنَهُمْ

between them

baynahum

وَبَيْنَ

and between

wabayna

مَا

what

يَشْتَهُونَ

they desire

yashtahūna

كَمَا

as

kamā

فُعِلَ

was done

fuʿila

بِأَشْيَاعِهِم

with their kind

bi-ashyāʿihim

مِّن

before

min

قَبْلُ ۚ

before

qablu

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

innahum

كَانُوا۟

were

kānū

فِى

in

شَكٍّۢ

doubt

shakkin

مُّرِيبٍۭ

disquieting

murībin

٥٤

And prevention will be placed between them and what they desire,1 as was done with their kind before. Indeed, they were in disquieting doubt [i.e., denial].

— Saheeh International
